The SCANPO Network Of Nonprofits

SCANPO serves as the statewide network, information center and advocate for the charitable nonprofit sector in South Carolina. We assist nonprofits in strengthening their leadership, management, financial and public policy capabilities to accomplish their missions. Advocacy & Public Policy

South Carolina Nonprofit Public Policy Advisory Council
SCANPO’S public policy program focuses on issues of broad common interest to South Carolina’s nonprofit sector. SCANPO’s volunteer Public Policy Committee is comprised of SCANPO board members, advocacy groups and key nonprofit constituencies. Learn more about the council.    

Advocacy Network
Voluntary network of nonprofit leaders that provides support and information on the legislative front.

Nonprofit “Day at the Capitol”
Held in the state capitol of Columbia during the legislative session, nonprofit leaders learn how to influence their elected officials and stay within legal limitations. Nonprofit leaders also meet with key state policymakers, legislators and cabinet officials.

Public Policy Conference
A biannual statewide conference involving leaders from the three sectors –nonprofits, business and government- that focus on important policy maters impacting the delivery of social and other charitable services in our state.

Pathways Program: Training & Technical Assistance

Nonprofit Seminars & Workshops
A year-long schedule of hands-on seminars is offered around the state. These learning opportunities help nonprofits more effectively manage and govern their organizations. Find out what workshops are going on now!

House Calls: Customized workshops and technical assistance to help nonprofit organizations with specific issues.

Diagnostic Clinics: Free one-hour consulting session with representatives of a nonprofit to discuss issues and explore possible solutions.

Organizational Assessments: A tool by which an organization can assess and measure its strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats and create a map to its success and sustainability.

Legal Referral Program
Through a special partnership with the South Carolina Bar, SCANPO can help nonprofit organizations access professional pro bono legal assistance. In addition, SCANPO can refer nonprofits to attorneys with special discounted rates for member organizations.

An up-to-date collection of nonprofit materials, fund raising directories and publications to supplement SCANPO’s technical assistance and referral services as well as to allow nonprofit leaders to conduct self-directed searches on topics of concern.
