South Carolina Nonprofit Model Employee Handbook and Employer Kit

The SCANPO model handbook is a resource geared toward nonprofits.  It was written in response to requests from numerous member organizations and with SC laws in mind.  The kit (book and CD) provides your organization with model policies for an employee handbook, copies of required federal and state posters and sample forms.  Additional policies on the Family and Medical Leave Act and Fair Credit Reporting Act are also included.   Also offered are employment policies with comments on each policy explaining the policy and legal reference. Each policy and form can be adapted to your organization, but SCANPO recommends that you have an attorney review all policies prior to implementation. The kit is offered to members for $95.00 and $125.00 for nonmembers.

SCANPO's Guiding Principles and Best Practices Training Announcement 2008-2009
Year Two of SCANPO’s Preserving the Public Trust Initiative is in full bloom and the revised version of the Guiding Principles and Best Practices is here!  Also, we are excited to begin offering our new, extensive training around the 9 Guiding Principles and 87 Best Practices. Training will be offered in Columbia and Charleston/Beaufort.

Please note the following guidelines for these trainings:

  • There is a session scheduled for each of the 9 Principles in both locations.
  • You will receive a “Certificate of Attendance” for each session you attend.
  • If you are unable to attend a session in your area, you may attend that session in one of the other locations provided space is available.
  • If you registered for all 9 sessions, you do not have to send the same person to each session.
  • Each participant will receive one copy of SCANPO’s “Guiding Principles and Best Practices” publication.

We will ask registrants to complete and return to SCANPO, prior to training, a self-assessment of the current level of practice in their organization.  This information is designed to prepare both you and the facilitator for the training session.  At the end of the training, you will also be encouraged to complete an action plan, committing to specific changes/improvements in practices over a period of time.  SCANPO will follow-up with you on your action plan and will assist with additional tools, mentoring or training.

Below is the Schedule of all planned trainings.  Click on the date to register for an individual session.
