Grant Writing Workshop
Sherry Beasley
Location: American Red Cross 2795 Pampas Drive Myrtle Beach, SC 29576
Lunch is included!
We live in an age in which the need for funding from external sources is becoming more and more important to many agencies, institutions, and non-profit organizations. This need for funding from external sources is being felt especially strongly in small communities across the nation. From private foundations to federal sources, there are millions of dollars available to support programs and projects; the key is knowing where and how to apply for these funds.
The grant writing workshop will take a two-fold approach. The first portion of the workshop will deal with general information about funding sources – private foundations, corporate foundations, and federal agencies. We will discuss research strategies and how to identify resources on the web, in foundation directories, as well as in Federal Register.
The second portion of the workshop will deal with the specific elements of proposal writing, both for foundation and federal proposals. The primary focus will be on demystifying the proposal writing process, and in general, making the idea of securing grants less forbidding.
From funding philosophies to actual rudiments of proposal writing, the discussion will emphasize making the whole grant seeking experience less threatening for non-profit organizations, local community groups, or government agencies. Participants will receive a booklet that will help them feel more comfortable in competing for both federal and private grants.
