CompassPoint has launched a new online board tutorial for people interested in serving on nonprofit boards. This program is free and there are no plans to charge for it in the future. It includes a conference bag (collection of useful links, articles), a couple of off-line activities and a readiness self-assessment tool.

As the resource and information center for the nonprofit sector in South Carolina, SCANPO’s Online Resource Center will provide numerous resource materials for your organization.  SCANPO members will be available to view additional resource materials through the member’s only section.   • IRS Launches New Web site for
    501(c)(3)s

    The Internal Revenue Service has launched a new, interactive web-based tool to assist 501(c)(3) organizations in complying with tax law. The new Stay Exempt website provides tools and training on topics that include how to classify an organization as a public charity, determine unrelated business income, and file the Form 990. The website also provides information on organization employment issues, disclosure requirements, and activities that will jeopardize an organization’s tax status.
